Wireless Nirvana And Depression

I purchased a Gateway laptop from Best Buy a week ago Monday and I gotta
tell you, I love it! It is my first laptop and I’m wondering how I ever
lived without it! The first night I got it, I watched Office Space on it and
then I went into my backyard as far as I could go. I put my back against the
fence and there I was at 11:30 at night surfing the Net from my backyard.
Nirvana!
For over a week, I have sat on my couch and other places, too, surfing,
e-mailing, and otherwise computing. This laptop has given me a new sense of
freedom. I now hate the idea of being tethered to my desktop.
Last night I was fiddling (no, not like Nero), with my network settings.
Long story short, I killed my wireless access. I stayed up until 1:30 in the
morning, but still no access. Depression! Like Custer in 1876, I called it
quits.
Today I went to work and came home and again picked up that fiddle we
discussed above. To no avail! Depression sat in on me like a thunderstorm on
the horizon in Texas. I realized I needed to start over.
I put in the recover CD and wiped it. I then started from scratch. After
recovery was complete, upgrade to XP Pro, put on Office 2003, FrontPage
2003, Project, Visio, Dreamweaver, and other tools and I got my wireless back
after the XP Pro upgrade. Nirvana!
I have run the gamut of high, low and high again. If I lose my wireless
access, I’ll be suicidal. Therefore, pray I don’t lose it again. If you have
any thoughts on this, you know where I am. Next time, we are going to switch
subjects. I’ll explain my travels in the land of PVRs. [Danny Fyffe]
