Let’s Cleap Up Streaming Audio

Streaming audio quality is always an issue with me. So often I notice the microphone audio quality on people streaming radio and video absolutely stinks! Many of the streaming video people go to great lengths to get the best camera they can afford. Then they use a cheap computer microphone/headset for the audio. It’s no different on many of the streaming radio stations, their music sounds great, the DJ speaks and the audio quality is in the toilet.
There is no reason for this. After investing quite a few dollars in the hardware to bring your station together, spend a few more dollars and spring for a good microphone and mixer. Total cost can be under $150. The difference in your audio quality is well worth the investment. I use Shure SM-57 microphones in both of my studios. They give you professional quality at a very reasonable price. I feed them to the computer via Behringer mixers. I prefer shaping and controlling the audio via external hardware mixers vice using software mixers.
There is absolutely no reason your microphone audio can’t sound as good as the best radio stations.

Not to mention that, with a little effort that DJ who sounds like Daffy Duck can come out a close approximation of Shadoe Stevens.
