Buddi is a personal finance and budgeting program aimed at those who have little or no financial background. In making this software, I have attempted to make things as simple as possible while still retaining enough functions to satisfy most home users.
Buddi is available for free; you can download it for free, with no disabled features and no time limit. If you like it, and feel that it is useful, I would greatly appreciate a small donation via the link at the bottom of the page.

If this is your cup of tea, then the Web site is here.
Since this program is written in Java, there is no need for a special binary; you just have to download the Windows zip file and place it anywhere.
The other program that is Open Source and a budgeting help is GnuCash. This little wonder is brought to you by the wonderful Gnu group of software developers.
GnuCash is personal and small-business, financial-accounting software, freely licensed under the GNU GPL and available for GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris, and Mac OS X.
Designed to be easy to use, yet powerful and flexible, GnuCash allows you to track bank accounts, stocks, income, and expenses. As quick and intuitive to use as a checkbook register, it is based on professional accounting principles to ensure balanced books and accurate reports.
Feature Highlights
- QIF/OFX/HBCI Import, Transaction Matching
- Reports, Graphs
- Scheduled Transactions
- Financial Calculations
- Double-Entry Accounting
- Stock/Bond/Mutual Fund Accounts
- Small-Business Accounting

Invoices, A/P, A/R
Now notice the small business aspect of this particular application and you will understand that is not some rinky-dink , know-nothing software. No siree, this app can even interact with your online banking account, but be really, really careful since anything you do wrong can have severe consequences.
The GnuCash Web home is here.
The last program that I have used for awhile is called jGnash. It is written in jave, and the reason that I stopped using it that, I have no background in accounting, so much of this program was just over my head !
