Live Mesh Client for Mac OS X

Microsoft’s Live team released, for a moment by error, a pre-beta of the Mac OS X client for Microsoft’s Live Mesh. This has been a shortcoming of the service, and I am glad to see that it is being addressed. For the short time that the download was available, some watchful people snapped it up and tested it. Since the Mesh preview was opened up to more testers I have all of my computers meshed. Adding in my Mac would make the integration seamless. I can add my Windows XP virtual machine running in Fusion but it isn’t the same as true Mac OS X integration.

Moving more and more services to the cloud also helps with “abstracting” the dependencies one may have on any singular platform (Windows, Mac, *nix, etc.). So far I have moved to the cloud:

  1. Storage - Microsoft SkyDrive

  2. Mail - Gmail
  3. Documents - Google Docs
  4. Note taking - Google Notebook
  5. Bookmarks - Microsoft Live Favorites and del.ico.us
  6. RSS Feeds - Google Reader
  7. Data sync - Microsoft Live Mesh and Live Folders
