Better and better

Okay, I know, it’s been a while.  Can’t help it, “real life” has a tendency to keep me jumping more than the Internet does.  I’m trying, though.

Anyway…

Ubuntu.  Lovely thing that it is.  Works wonders.  Especially as when you find out that the rash of problems you were having boiled down to a bad hard drive.  Feck.   (A shiny quarter to the first person who tells me where that word came from.  Heh)

Well, I have finally gotten Ubuntu where I, mostly, want it.  Firefox is running fast and happy.  Thunderbird is doing much the same.  It had a bit of a problem when I had two video cards installed at the same time, even though I was only using one of them.  The system would not reboot/shutdown unless the power button was used.  Removing the non-used video card took care of that nicely.

Now, it’s off to the “play” machines to see how fast and hard I can make Ubuntu scream.  Lots of testing Wine, VMWare, etc., etc.  I am using a couple of 800Mhz machines with Ubuntu installed to test out programs and such.  I’ll post what I come up with, so that’s a plus.

Till I can scrounge up some more time, later.
