Everytime I run into Ajay Juneja, he’s talking about his voice controlled car computer. This is partly because the brains behind the voice recognition happens to be technology created by Ajay’s start-up company, Speak With Me. There’s not much you can throw at the computer that it can’t do. It’s got enough logic to prompt you with questions when it misunderstands and it works well even with the windows down. The killer app for me is media playback because not having to browse for files while driving is certainly a smart way to keep your eyes on the road. I’ve seen several pictures of the car, most notably the ones taken by Mike Arrington of Techcrunch, but you really need to see the car in action to get a feel for what it can do. Bre Pettis of I Make Things recently did a video interview with Ajay and the car while driving around Seattle which tells the story better than any text or photo collection possible could.
