RSS and BitTorrent are the two Web technologies I vote to have the biggest impact on this first decade of the new millennium. Both contribute to the fundamental shift in the way we receive and consume information. RSS completely alters the information delivery process, while BitTorrent takes advantage of bandwidth we all pay for but haven’t used effectively up to this point.

Combining these two pieces to receive updates about newly available files, which are subsequently downloaded automatically, is heaven for an information junkie like me. RSS plugin support in BitTorrent client Azureus makes it possible to create a watch list for video and audio topics I can set and forget, meaning the stuff I don’t want to miss eventually shows up on my hard drive without my personal intervention.
