Splitting MP4 Files for PSP Playback

When my disk space starts running low, I tend to buy more disk space. This is true whether the disk I’m referring to is a flash card for my camera or a bigger hard drive for my PC. Still, adding a bigger memory card for a Sony PSP can be a hard pill to swallow, specifically because Sony keeps prices artificially inflated through the use of proprietary storage formats like Memory Stick DUO. Shortly after the arrival of PSP on the gaming scene, I wrote a short how-to on converting DVD movies to PSP-ready MP4 video files playable from Memory Stick DUO cards. Recently I received a question about easily splitting MP4 files into smaller segments to accommodate limited card space. This is a tricky problem as no software package currently supports splitting MP4 files without re-rendering. I approach the problem from a slightly different angle, showing you how to create smaller files and eliminating the rendering time by splitting the AVI prior to conversion to MP4. Saves at least an hour during processing.
