Apple did a great thing by adding podcasting support to iTunes. It makes it easier for those of us who don’t like to hack 10 different things together to subscribe and listen to our favorite audio programming. They also made podcast publishing confusing for those of us creating podcasts by adding some new tags to the RSS space. Most of the tags are redundant with very little additional value added to the RSS 2.0 spec. Like the tags or not, if you want to optimize your iTunes listing, you will be adding them to the RSS feed for your podcast. In a recent series of posts, I break down each of the tags, covering what they mean to your podcast and then combine all the tags to show you where they belong within the scope of a podcast feed. You can find all the details about each of these tags and how they relate to your podcast by stepping through my detailed analysis of the iTunes Podcast tags and how to implement them in your feed.
