Convert Audible Audio Books to MP3

nbsp;Audible.com is one of my favorite sources of great audio content. From audio books to on demand NPR programming to audio versions of some of the best magazines on the market, Audible offers a great selection. It’s currently my longest running subscription to anything digital. Audible isn’t without flaws. Their proprietary file format isn’t compatible with many of the portable music players on the market. Of the five portable players I own, only my Audiovox Smartphone is compatible with the Audible service (and only usable after investing more money in a miniSD card). While it’s partially my fault that I own devices not compatible with the service - I could have purchased an iPod or one of the products they do support - I continue to find it frustrating that consumer electronics companies and service providers like Audible don’t keep the best interests of the buyer in mind when making feature decisions about their product offerings. Instead of sitting on my hands waiting for a more compatible audio book solution, I decided to take matters into my own hands and use one of the legal methods for copying the audio from the proprietary Audible Audio format to something all 5 of my devices support. Making the copies requires a minute-for-minute investment of time in recording each book, but the end result is portability for a service that costs almost $240 annually. Read on to find out how you can legally convert Audible books to MP3, WMA or any other format.

Try the following steps:
Burn the CD, but instead of burning into a real CD, select the option to write to the hard disk as image files (nrg)
Then use Virtual DAEMON manager to mount the CD image.
Then you can rip the CD into mp3

I would love a way to make my own Audible files. I use text readers to make audio books but they are not bookmarkable.
