Media Center for the Mac?

  • No Related Post

While Microsoft has been heavily moving Windows Media Center through manufacturers such as HP and Sony, the Mac community has been wondering out loud where the worlds easiest-to-use computer version of this is. Didn’t Steve Jobs once comment at Macworld that Apple wanted to be the digital media center? Sure, they have iEverything under the sun but wouldn’t a digital media center, well, have a center? The iPod photo is a step toward that; however, it’s not the real deal. People want to hook up their Mac’s to TV’s and make that the media center, as it should be. Well thankfully there are some people out there who agree and aren’t waiting for Apple to do it.

Mac Media Center is putting together a free media interface and UI to be used on Mac OS X and is asking for help with it. Not just in function but in name. So even if you don’t know how to code, you can help guide this sure-to-be-a-hit into stardom. By the looks of it, there is a great start of names posted but they can always use more input. What ever you do suggest, though, please, please, please iBeg you, no more names that start with a lower case I, Okay? :)

This projects plans to develop a free Media Center application for the Apple Macintosh, bringing togther [sic] the power and intuitiveness of the Macs’ built in applications under a simple interface, for use as part of a Home Theatre system.

We also have information on 5.1 audio, remote control and video output solutions for the Mac.

The Project aim is to turn the Mac mini into a Mac Media Center. [Full Text]
