How far away should my HDTV screen be?

Before you buy that HDTV you’ve been drooling over at the electronics store, it’s a good idea to consider how much screen will actually fit in the space you want to watch it. 65 or 70 inches may sound like the perfect screen size, but what if the distance between the screen and your peepers is only six feet. You can be too close to the TV screen and not because of the radiation your parents may have warned you about. How close is too close? What’s the optimal viewing distance? Defining “optimal” is partially a matter of personal taste, but finding the viewing sweet spot in your room makes it easier to pick a screen perfect for the viewing area. It’s kind of like singles groups at church. I’ve gone to several which include everyone from the college students to the 20 something single mothers to the middle-aged embittered divorcees to the 70 year old widow. The only thing they have in common is being single.

At one time having a computer was a special type of thing. Now, it’s like a toaster or a microwave. It’s just another appliance. Even most seniors know how to use them.
