The Lowering Price Of Higher Tech

I was clearing old magazines stacked over the months, then I came across a
mint-condition technology publication dated March 2002. As I flipped through the pages, I thought in amazement how fast technology has progressed in two years. The
funny thing is how such magazines let us travel back in time mentally and
remind us that the stuff we once lauded over is so outdated now.
Take for example Sony’s F707 - priced S$1999 in the magazine - was voted the
best high-end digital camera. On another page, TDK 32×10x40x CD-R/RW writer
was priced S$299. And a top-of-the-line Philips 15-inch LCD monitor (150P2M) was valued
at S$939. How much are the above worth now? You would be lucky to even find them
at a retail shop.
As I closed the magazine, I admired my F828 that I bought at S$1650, and thought
of my TDK DVD dual-layer writer that cost me S$169. Thank you, technology.
