Practicing For Unemployment

Why am I such a stickler for self-help and personal development?
The nice me says, “I want people to be able to reach their full potential, to
make enough money to comfortably take care of their families, to be able to
finish college, heck, maybe just to make the world a better place.”
Then there is the not-nice me, that says, “I’m tired of hearing people
complain. Complaints from people who want sympathy, but don’t care about
results.” But enough about some of my family members.
The practical reality is that if you are not studying anything currently, then
you are practicing for unemployment. It’s harsh, but simple.
Now here’s my problem.
I can give you ideas about what to study (which I will).
I can give you ideas about how to study (which I will).
I can even give you ideas about where to, and where not to study (which I
will).
But you still have got to meet me at least one quarter of the way.
You, my dear friend, have got to bring me your whys. Why do you want to learn
something new?
Do you:
Want to get a promotion? Want to change careers? Want to get paid for doing
what you love? Want to get out of debt? Want to buy a new car? Want to get a
new job where they appreciate you?
See, that’s the part that no one else can give to you. Other people have tried,
but their reasons will rarely reflect your reasons.
Am I talking to you? I don’t know, that’s for you to decide. Let me know; hit
that comment button and just go off, tell me your why. I’m committed to *you* getting what you want and I’ll use a carrot on a stick to help you get it.
But watch out for clown college.
