My Switch From Boot Camp to VMware Fusion

  • No Related Post

This is my official entry into the “My Switch to VMware Fusion” contest.

Software, regardless of operating system, is an essential component in any computing environment. Whether the program in question is coded for Mac or Windows, the bottom line is that users need to run what they need, when they need it. Programs like Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Access, BitPim, PartitionMagic, WinRAR, ABBYY FineReader, and uTorrent, either aren’t available at all for Mac, or are not nearly as robust as they are on Windows. I’d previously been a fan of dual-booting between Windows and Mac OS X, but the gap between the two was too wide for practical use. When I heard about VMware Fusion, I instantly knew that it would be the solution to my problem. I’ve been a long time fan of VMware Workstation on the Windows platform, and was eager to try Fusion. Once I began to use it, I was hooked. As a technology enthusiast, VMware Fusion opened millions of doors for me, and allowed me to do what I’ve always wanted: Have the best of both worlds under one roof.

Switch to VMWare Fusion.

I have just ordered a MacBook Pro w/ VmWare Fusion. I see you menhtion ABBYY FineReader. Have you gotten it to work under VMWare Fusion? If so, does it communicare well with yor scanner (I have an epsom vm750.)

Thanks,
Ina

I’ve never personally used FineReader in VMware, but as long as you can get the scanner to work in the VM, you shouldn’t have a problem using FineReader.
