Just a quick tip for today, the second part to this piece will be posted on Monday of next week, after the Thanksgiving holiday here in the States.
As you may already be aware of, the day after Thanksgiving here in the US is a real mad house. People are going to be doing a fair amount of their holiday shopping on this day and what many of them will not think about or even consider, is that more often than not, they are going to need your services. But not in the traditional sense.
This opens up a door for you. There is an opportunity to work your existing client base for some fast PR.
Assuming you have been proactive in maintaining a mailing list of your clients, consider sending out a holiday note with some helpful tips when it comes to selecting and using various popular consumer goods that may relate to your business.
- How to install the software for a digital camera (CD first, etc)
- Understanding the importance of researching high end purchases before spending the money
- Using solutions like Froogle for saving money with holiday shopping
- Matching up PC video games with compatible systems (video card, best for the money, etc)
- What to expect with a Vista upgrade on a new gifted PC purchase
- The list goes on
By simply providing a quick cheat sheet of what we consider to be common sense product use tips, you will have accomplished a few important things.
- You save your clients time and money
- Your clients will pass this note around to others as it is not like anything anyone else is doing
- After the holiday malware and viruses creep up like always or a new video card gift needs to be installed, you will always be the one they call, even when competitors are wasting time with holiday discount coupons.
Again, while your competition is trying to gain new business through failing methods like “coupons”, you will have reestablished loyalty and reaffirmed why your extra cost is totally worth it when your clients are paying you the standard repair bill.
Remember, it only takes the cost of a letter sent to your client list. What you will receive, are clients that do not fall for holiday gimmicks from the competition. Think of it as holiday insurance. ;)
