Does YPN Trump AdSense?

I recently took a poll of Yahoo! Publishers Network (YPN) users who were readers of my blog and in various popular Internet marketing forums. I was interested mainly in how much people were earning each month (without revealing the actual numbers, of course) from YPN and whether they preferred it over Google AdSense. Most Webmasters who received the invitation to participate in YPN were already AdSense publishers, so a comparison is in order.

This simple five-question survey has 42 responses so far. Okay, I admit that it’s not the most scientific survey ever, but it does show the trends. If you’d like, you can also contribute to the survey so that we have more data.

The questions in the survey were:

How much are you earning with YPN each month? How many sites of yours use YPN? Do you prefer YPN over AdSense? Is YPN giving you better results than AdSense in terms of earnings? Did Yahoo! send you a Christmas gift last year?

The preliminary results showed that a majority were earning enough each month to buy a 22″ flat screen monitor. Last time I checked, the price range for a Samsung 22″ HDTV monitor was between $615 and $1,900. Most people had only a single Web site showing the ads. Now here’s the interesting part - about half of the respondents preferred YPN over AdSense and close to 70% said they were earning more with YPN. Finally, only 17% received a Christmas gift from Yahoo!. I was one of them. You can see what the gift looks like here.
