About A Canadian Geek

Marc has been interested in technology since he was six years old when his Dad started teaching him bicycle repair. His family left Olds, Alberta and moved to Vancouver, B.C. in 1967. In 1996, he got a Windows 3.1 computer, upgraded it to Windows 95, and was scared to click on the Start button for fear of breaking something. He started asking friends, and reading, and eventually returned to Capilano College (now Capilano University) in North Vancouver, B.C. in 2000 at age 43. He completed a two-year diploma program in Windows NT networking and database design in ten months. Since school he’s been working in the IT industry. In 2002 he moved to Edmonton and began a computer repair and services business. He ran it successfully until 2007 when he returned home to Vancouver to prepare for his California wedding to his life’s love, Ellen. Currently he is helping her prepare for her immigration to Canada.
