Intel Leads USB 3.0 Standard Development Group

  • No Related Post

In this press release from the Intel Developer Forum, Intel, HP, Microsoft Corporation, NEC Corporation, NXP Semiconductors and Texas Instruments Incorporated have formed the USB 3.0 Promoter Group to develop a USB 3.0 standard expected to be over ten times faster than the current USB 2.0 standard. The proposed 3.0 standard will be backwards compatible, use the same architecture as wired USB, and will be optimized for low power and better protocol efficiency.

USB 3.0 ports and cabling will be designed to enable backward compatibility as well as future-proofing for optical capabilities.

I love USB 2.0 - I’m looking forward to version 3!
