The Truth Behind The Network Marketing Business

Back in the early 1990’s, I had been exposed to a number of these network marketing programs and out of curiosity, opted to ‘participate” (rather ‘appear’ to) so I might later on share my findings with others. Without actually “buying into” any of the programs, I began what ended up becoming about a ten year study of one of the most brilliant half-truths I had ever seen. Some network marketing companies had the potential of allowing a person to make an honest buck, should they stick to a retail route. Then there were others that were not only about “buying the products”, but doing so at a rate that ended up hurting many of their participants.

In this upcoming article series, I will show you how the network marketing companies actually make their money. How your “sponsor” and their ilk is at fault for your misfortune while your MLM company may only guilty of turning a blind eye to the chaos. As for not getting myself sued here, I will not place blame, state that a company is a scam “outwardly”. Rather, provide the facts as to how each of their payment plans work, challenges of trying to “recruit” and why the entire model only has a few real winners while the rest are not seeing a dime. You will learn:

  • The fundamental differences between companies selling products vs services.
  • How some programs can be used legitimately and that profiting can indeed be a reality thru simple retailing services, NOT products or recruitment.
  • The difference between the Matrix, Unilevel, and Binary plans and why none of them is worth it in the end.
  • How volume can destroy any traction with products sales overnight - yet another nail in the network marketing coffin.
  • Reliable alternatives to typical network marketing plans.
  • For those bent on working this kind of business, advice on how not to get screwed by your upline.
  • Why Multi-level marketing is now referred to as network-marketing.
  • The potential legal liability of becoming an independent MLM representative.

Keep in mind, I have work closely with participants from over ten different companies. Some in products, others in services. I know all the recruiting techniques and bounced by all of them as I saw the flaws in each. By following this series, as I release each post, I will help you to see thru the fog and learn that if you simply must sell the products from these companies, which ones will actually work in the retail world and which will fail. Remember, participating to “build an upline” is a zero sum game. And because so many con artists are now participating with their “systems”, any legitimacy that remains must be scrutinized closely. Stay tuned…

In the meantime, I would remind you that there are non-glamorous, be it legitimate work at home jobs. They will never make you rich, but for those of you looking to build a business from home, they can certainly help to fill in the cracks financially. And course, you can build up residual income without spending a fortune, with a little help of course.
