So you are enjoying that new Vista system you just purchased and feel fairly comfortable that you now, finally, will remain free of malware. Think again. As it turns out, there is a nasty little worm called W32/Impard-A that takes a joy ride using Microsoft’s Windows Live Messenger and replicating itself with the false promise of pictures to those in your contact list.
Avoiding problems with malware like this:
1) Never share files over instant messenger - just don’t do it.
2) Use a decent Firewall and set it up to alert you of ports running outside of the normal range of things. In short, set it up paranoid level.
3) Keep your anti-virus up to date - this means you too, Vista users.
