iPhone vs LG Voyager

Good day everyone!

Today I am going to be comparing the Apple iPhone and the supposed ‘iPhone Killer’ the LG Voyager.Well, I’ll start this off by just saying I love the iPhone to death by unfortunetly for me, I am on a verizon service and I can’t use the iPhone as a phone so really have no reason to buy one. =[So here we go, and if you don’t agree with something that I post or you want to state your own opinion, please comment!!! Thanks!

——————————————————————————-

Apple iPhone

The Apple iPhone is the new best device of 2007, but many people have been furious about the iPhone not being able to be used on other networks (Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint etc.)But other than the choice of AT&T as the carrier, the iPhone has been a smash hit! Combining an iPod, a phone, and a mobile web-browser into a small, elegant, device with the latest and greatest in user-interface, the Touch Screen. The iPhone can be purchased in the 8GB model only for $399.00.

Specs: 8GB iPhone:

-3.5 inch multi-touch screen

Battery: 250 hour stand-by time.

Runs Mac OS X-

8GB flash drive

-2.0 Mega Pixel camera

Wi-Fi (802.11b/g)

Uses AT&T Carrier

Fully featured Safari web-browser

LG Voyager

The LG Voyager has not yet been released for purchase, but will be available sometime this year. The LG Voyager has been refered to as ‘the iPhone Killer’ because of it matches the iPhone with its similiar multi-touch user interface, but it supposedly beats the iPhone with its full QWERTY keyboard (just like Verizon Wireless’ ENVY phone). The LG Voyager has an expandable memory upgrade to 8GB, just like the iPhone.

Specs LG Voyage 8GB:

Speakerphone, VZ NavigatorPicture, text, video and instant messaging

Bluetooth stereo for headsets and speakers

Built-in stereo speakers

2.0 megapixel camera

Expandable microSD memory slot of up to 8GB

Uses Verizon Wireless Carrier

———————————————————————————————————————

Well, all in all I think that both devices are brilliant ideas, and I can’t wait to get my hands on them and possibly do a review on one if I get the chance.

Thanks everyone, and I hope you enjoyed!!!

GOOD DAY!

Apple didn’t come up with the multi-touch interface. they were the first to use it on a consumer device. If apple had created it, NOONE else would be able to use it. Also Voyager is V Cast and 3G compatable over a more reliable network. my roommate has trouble with his ATT service, yet i have 4 bars no matter where i go!

Will Voyager be Mac compatible? My Palm is dying and I want something to replace the two items. There seem to be very few phones that are Mac compatible.

The iphone and the voyager are two great phones, but thats where people go wrong. They are more than just phones; they are life styles. Yeah the voyager uses gps and the 3g network but so what. With wi-fi ya just can’t go wrong and who needs a key board anyway when you have one built into the softwear. I can already feel the disapointment of verizon customers. There is only one compony that can even come close to making a better phone then apple and that is……. Yep you gussed it, their biggest rivle , Microsoft!

one thing people are seriously missing is the fact that the new voyager doesn’t seem to have the option to connect to any wireless internet device, like the iPhone. At least I cannot find it in any of the reviews or technical specs. Unless I am reading it wrong, you have to use Verizon’s wireless access reguardless. Being a verizon user also I would have like to see an 802.11 wireless feature so I can surf/check email with any wireless access.

I need to upgrade my phone and I am on the verizon network. I like the idea of the Voyager, but is it Mac compatible?

is there any way someone with at&t could get the lg voyager where i could use it with my service, or did they block that? i like the iphone idea but its shitty for texting… the keys on the touch screen are too small (i tryed it out when i went to buy it, and you can’t press a single key with out all the others going too) so i didnt end up getting it. but this lg is everything in the iphone i wanted plus a good texting system.

David how dare you act like the Voayger is not comparable to the iPhone. The fact of the matter is that the Voyager is on Verizon, the best cell phone provider in the US.

1) the voyager has a more reliable network
2) it has a full qwerty keyboard and utilizes a touch-screeen style keyboard too
3) It has mobile tv through vcast
4) it can play acc, mp3, and wma files
5) it has gps nav – not the best one but better than not having one at all
6) when you flip it open you have another screen…you can choose which one works better for what you are doing
7) it uses mobile 2.0…nothing the iphone is beating
8) it is BETTER!

YOU CAN’T GO WRONG WITH THE IPHONE! The iphone is a consumer friendly device in which all of the necessary buttons are on the home screen. This verizon RIPP-OFF is a complete poser model. If you really need to use your own service, then UNLOCK IT! The Voyager is basically an Envy with a touch pad on the front. The iPhone has all of the necessary components integrated into the sole device. Also, not having a sustaintiable amount of internal memory was a big mistake for LG. If LG REALLY wanted to turn heads, they should have topped the iphone with more memory, an integrated keyboard that rivals the smart-keyboard from apple, and they should at least have wi-fi. The majority of cell phone consumers want an easy to use, simplified device that does not require a lot of “button pushes” to get to the text messaging. This device might be great for the advanced user, but for the technically challanged person, this device might prove to be troublesome.

how do you unlock it?

Anyone who is claiming that the voyager is a rip off of the iphone is completely mistaken. The iphone stole its ui and almost everything it has from the LG PRADA, yes that’s right the iphone is a rip off, so much in fact that LG has filed a law suit against apple for stealing it’s UI and such. I just ordered my voyager and will be receiving it Monday Nov 26th. Verizon is a superior network, I have had them all, sprint, nextel, att, and now verizon, Verizon connects virtually everywhere and has a fast data connection.

Any one who is saying that the voyager is beeter then the iphone is just saying that because they can not get the iphone. I dont even have the iphone but I can tell its better and all you hatters are just jealous that you cant have the iphone.

Any one who thinks that the voyager is better is just saying that because they cant have the iphone. I dont even have the iphone but I can still tell that the iphone is a better prodect and can come in handy more. So all you hatters who thing the voyager is better are just jealous that you can not have the iphone. Plus the iphone udates everyonce in a while, so it is progressing as you have it. So even if the voyager was a better phone, the iphone would still become a better phone.(the iphone is already better though)

Is ther any software out there that will allow the voyager to sync with ical?

I talked to one of the Verizon’s sales staff yesterday. He said that it wouldn’t be able to sync with Apple’s calendar, to do list or contacts. LG Voyager will never be great because Verizon will always hold it back. Any one else sick of the Verizon’s OS. I’m thinking of just keeping my Chocolate and using an iPod Touch for a PDA like device. I know it sucks having two devices but AT&T sucks in my area and I don’t want to pay that much for a phone (LG) that doesn’t work with my Mac.

I just got my LG Voyager. Did so, though I really wanted the iPhone because I finally got most of my friends and family on Verizon.

Just wondering if anyone knows whether the CD included in the Voyager package which says must have Vista/XP is available somewhere for a Mac? I have a MacBook.

Thanks.

I just bought the Voyager, and I had an iPhone up until then. I must say that the choice I made to switch, through all the cancellation fees and what-not, was the best decision I ever made. The Voyager internet in 3G is faster than the Apple Wi-Fi connection. V-Cast Music, Video, and TV is also a plus. There is also no clumsy “my thumbs are too big so I have to use my pinky to type” keyboard. There is no miniscule battery life problem. There is no not loud enough ringtone problem. There is attachment enabled email. It does not need push email, but it automatically syncs without having to enter extensive info about a POP3 Server. Basically, the Voyager does everything the iPhone does (but better), and more. It has NO problems. The iPhone is truly a waste of 400-600 dollars, and a 100 dollar monthly data plan (are you f-ing kidding me?). The Voyager is right now the greatest phone you can buy.

Also, LG did in fact, invent the multi-touch user interface with its PRADA. It wasn’t ever released. Also, the Voyager’s vibe-touch technology surpasses the iPhone’s screen because it actually with an instantaneous vibration lets you know if you touched the right button.

Buy the Voyager (LG VX10000) from Verizon before they are out of stock.

For those who think the Voyager is inferior to the iPhone have not yet had a chance to experience a Voyager!

1. Voyager has a MUCH FASTER data connection (Doesn’t have WiFi??? Who cares when you can get a 3G data connection on the Voyager? By the way…can you get WiFi on a road or on the interstate?)

2. Voyager can do picture messaging (WOW! Phones have been doing picture messaging for over 4 years now. The iPhone is one of the only new production phones that doesn’t have pix messaging)

3. Voyager has MUCH BETTER battery life

4. Voyager has MobTV (this is FREAKIN great!)

5. Turn-by-turn navigation (Google maps??? Big deal)

6. Expandable memory!

7. OTA music downloads!

8. Oh yeah…better call quality!

First of all, I know that you have either never had the iphone or you have never had the voyager becauses why would you go from the iphone to the voyager especially if you just got the iphone. How would you know that the voyager was going to better which it is not. You are obviously making this all up because you are with verizon or you work with them or you just were bored as crap. Which you probably always are.

Just so you know, this message is for Judd. Wait, are you a boy or girl?

8gb iphone…

very informative posting thanks…

First off, anyone who says that iPhone’s wi-fi is better, or that the Voyager should have wi-fi, obviously isn’t thinking. What is the fundamental thing you need when you try to connect to wi-fi? You need the wi-fi! And if you’re moving around, how long do you think you’re going to stay connected to any wi-fi you are connected to? How many places are you going to be where being connected to wi-fi for an extended length of time is even a possibility? Home, maybe, but at that point get the hell off your phone and use a computer like a regular person, for crying out loud. Work/school? Well, quite frankly you aren’t there to be using the net on a phone, you are there to do work/learn. And by using internet provided by your network, you’re going to be connected almost always, so long as there is data transfer available, which, considering verizon is THE best network in the US, in most places you won’t have too much difficulty connecting to the net. The iPhone has the same flaws as iPods: no removable battery, incompatibility with anything besides iTunes, and many others. And, as has been said before, the iPhone is a complete and total rip-off of the LG PRADA, which was released in the rest of the world, but not in the US. Yeah, sure, the iPhone is the better phone if you don’t like better sound quality/stereo instead of mono, or a keyboard that actually works with a fair degree of accuracy (although, chris, I guess spelling REALLY doesn’t matter much to you. Did you know that a “hatter” is a person who makes and sells hats? I think the word you were looking for is “hater.” If not, well, you’ve got a very weird way of attempting to be offensive), two screens, spare batteries, removable memory cards for extensive memory if you happen to fill up one memory card, worse service, and the few extra hundred dollars of cost

I have the iPhone and it is way better than the lg voyager. My brother in law has the voyager and his browser lags compared to the iPhone. Yes it has mobile tv but who’s gonna pay 25 a month for it. Also verizon needs to change their ugly and annoying interface. Overall I love the iPhone due to its interface, wifi, you tube app, slim look and etc. As for the iPhone keyboard yes its hard at first to type but once u start typing it gets easier and faster.

Oh yes and iphone screen resolution is way better than voyager.

You cant compare the iPhone to the Voyager, thats like comparing a station wagon(iPhone) to a flashy sports car (Voyager). The iPhone is considered a PDA, the Voyager is not, the Voyager is just a cell phone with full html internet browsing(translation: a cell phone with real internet capabilities.) Ohh, and as for the Voyager catching scraps from someone else ’s home cooking, the iPhone is a mirror image to the LG Prada, which came out first, so who’s copying who? How does it taste Apple, cuz u did it first. Apple ripped off LG first, that is why LG supposedly has a lawsuit pending against Apple, so I heard. You guys r making this much fuss over the the Voyager?! I would hate to see how u guys r going to react when Microsoft joins the party. I’m sure they have a phone currently under development that is going to make Apple’s iPhone look like a 99 cent piece of junk. Why else would have Verizon passed on the iPhone then? Microsoft is coming to the party, a little late, but well worth the wait. Attention Apple iPhone fans,”Your time to shine is right now, better enjoy it, cuz when the Microsoft phone finally comes out, the iphone is going out like vcr’s and record players! People will be like iPhone-iWhat u talking about?

well, i just got a Voyager and it’s pretty good phone. i get good reception, good call quality the full key-board is insane. i’m the envy of all my friends. My cousin got the iphoe recently and he regrets it. He says the call quality is poor. Texting is a hasel. Using the web is pretty slow, and he can’t even go to Myspace!. Should have got the Voyager. I think that they are both pretty good phones and each have there own good qualities.

i personally think that the voyager is a better/cooler phone just bc i love to text and i have the itouch and it is difficult to type using touch screen, however im not looking for all the bisnuiss matter

so as a teen i think the voyager is a much cooler phone

these are 2 great phones and all but we all got different taste i personality perfer the LG Voyager due to my apple products that i bought in the past god dame made in china junk ! i dont know about you but would you want a phone that uses a sim chip rather a networked based but all and all out of all these knew phone why cant that make a voice texting program for word by word that would make life easier would you not agree

Well considering I’m not a fan of apple products and never will be, The iPhone doesn’t work for me. I am now a proud owner of my voyager. Kick ass phone. I don’t like how glitchy iPhone is. My friend has one. Half the time when he tilts it to get the screen to move to horizontal it doesn’t work. Major flaw when you have to shake your phone for 5 minutes to get the screen to tilt.

For those people thatus the line “they stole the idea from apple,” you are simple retarded. Don’t you thnk if Appel did cme out with the idea alone it would be copyrighted and lg would have to pay them to manufacturetouch screen devices. Touch screen technology bhas een out for serveral years before the iPhone. Just simply because the iPhone was integrated into a device that can make phne calls doens’t mean that verizon ripped the idea.

In response to Chris:

I had an iPhone and because my parents don’t give a damn that they spoil me rotten, I wanted the next best thing. So I went out and bought it. It is better, and I am guessing that you don’t get what you want so you don’t understand that switching is as easy as $175 out of my parents’ wallet, plus another $300.

OK, guess what…
THE iphone was the 1st one and is a very good model, but one thing…
THEY made the LG Voyager for another reason. and that reason is to beat the iphone.

what would you buy? something better then an iphone or just an iphone, while other people actually use a nice, BETTER LG VOYAGER!

LG ROCKS!

ok to say the very least the voyager beats the iphone i used to hav verizon and their older phones from like 10 years ago and hated the phone but loved the service so wen the iphone came out i got freking excited i switched to at&t and got the iphone i luved the phone but hated the service so wen the voyager came out i was even happier its just better i got it but was sad i coodnt compare it to my old iphone well it turnd out that my friend got an iphone and i compared it to my voyager i thought i was going bak to old phone wen i played with the iphone i was so used to the voyager it has a better service better internet (except the real youtube) tv music bluetooth video keyboard touchscreen EVERYTHING! its like the enV made love with the prada (which the iphone copied[interface,capabilites.etc.]and the prada came out b4 the iphone was planned which made it the REAL FIRST REVOLUTIONARY TOUCHSCREEN PHONE) and the enV cheted on the prada with the iphone verizon taking the baby since apple didnt care about it … and by the way the voyager is just following the pradas footsteps and also apple cam to verizon FIRST with the idea but verizon turnd them down since apple was being greedy and refused to put in expandable memory, removable battery(which ull hav to buy another iphone since apple wont replace the battery for shit),fulll QWERTY keyboard, etc so overall the voyager absolutely , undeniably beats the iphag dont ever think otherwise

Funny. You people call the LG Voyager a knock off the Iphone. I Had the Iphone and wouldn’t go back to it you paid me. The outside screen on the Voyager is running the Linux mobile OS…. or a watered down version of it. Compaire it to phones like the Motorola E6 ROKR or the A1200. I’ve never tried the LG Voyager as I cannot stand Verizon’s custom firmware. Granted, that does help their incompetent techs and allows them to save money, but certain phones have a MUCH Nicer interface than their basic one. In any case, The Iphone uses Wifi for most of its connections while the LG Voyager uses EDVO, granted, not as good as Sprint’s connection but you don’t have to deal with all sprint’s bullshit. (long story here, I’m sure you can always look it up online, they’ve pissed off enough customers). Final thoughts. Linux is tried and tested. The Mac shit is not. Every one says wait for the second or third model… well with the Iphone, this is a good idea. For you people that have the Iphone, I’m sorry. You got ripped off by Apple. Then again, how is this new? Just look at their prices for computers compaired to exactly the same things in a PC.

I just want to say that I love verizon service (other then they like to nickel and dime you for everything) I have been a verizon customer since 96 when it was airtouch. I got the voyager just after Christmas and I tried it for three weeks and then I returned and switch to at&t for the iPhone. I did not like the poor browser system due to the fact that zooming wasn’t easy and it could not tell the difference between HTML and mobile sites. I could not get the 8g card to read the computer. The tv was neat but there was never anything on I wanted to watch. It was difficult to find 3g service and it would be the same speed as edge. The touch screen worked very poorly compared to the iPhone and it was much easier to use the internal keyboard. You are stuck with verizon’s software that will never change, apple has upgraded the iPhone twice already (no charge). The basic email for the voyager was weak at best for $5 a month, to get full email is $20 a month and throw in the unlimited inernet you are up to $35. I have had the iPhone for 14 days now and I am much happier. The google maps, web apps, youtube and email is all included for the $20 unlimited Internet charge. We all have our own opinions, and I am much happier now.

What Do You Think?
