Trademarking Awareness for a Birth Defect? No, I am not Joking…

When I was a medic in the Army, I received a memo regarding the fact we were to no longer permitted to refer to the Heimlich Maneuver as such and, instead, we were to refer to the technique as “abdominal thrusts”. When I inquired as to why, I was told that the good doctor [...]

Twitter Hacked But Way Too Easily

I am not surprised Twitter was hacked. I am stunned at how easy it was.
If your password is something like “password” or “secret”, you may want to read about poor Twitter user crystal who thought that “happiness” was a good password. Turns out that the folks over at Twitter don’t have any brute force [...]

Yesterday was Free Shipping Day

This post over at download squad brought to my attention that yester day was free shipping day.

I never heard of this before this read but I wish I had know that when I spent my paycheck online last week. Apparently 100s of merchants will waive shipping on December 18th. I don’t know about [...]

A New York State Tax for Downloaded Media?

It seems there is the thought of taxing downloaded music in New York State. According to this download squad article, that and other taxes are being considered. The tax rate on this "digital media downloads" would be 4%.

The Yahoo Tech News Article it refers to also mentions that the tax will target "soda and [...]

The Internet Over Sex?

Now this is not too much of a surprise to me — is it to you? They seem to be reporting it like it is somehow revealing. In my opinion, it just confirmed what I already thought. Seems that many of us want the Internet more than sex.
A survey indicated that “46% [...]

Two Great Causes to Remember in December

Thanks to Ray Beckerman for bringing the Expert Witness Fund to my notice via a post post over at his blog.

I was unaware that the donations to the fund were tax deductible. This, however, is a defense fund I am all in favor of.

Another great "rightful" organization to keep in mind’ is the EFF. [...]

Coffee-diesel?

I have often joked that I only like "high octane" coffee. Decaf would likely put me into some type of shock. Seems the jest of "you can run your car off my coffee" may have some truth to it.

The idea of Coffee as a source of biodeisel sounds pretty kewl. It seems it [...]

Buy and Sell Used MP3s at Bopaboo?

The p2pnet post and it begins with "Could a new site buying and selling ‘used’ mp3s possibly be a honeypot set up by the RIAA?" I am reading it and, in the back of my head, I am thinking if this "is some kind of hoax?". Bopaboo, as the author makes known, is [...]

A Facebook Group to Show Support for Tenenbaum (RIAA Victim)

This is worth a quick post. Joel Tenenbaum who is standing up for himself against the RIAA, now has Facebook Group for support. (I mentioned the Dream Team of Witnesses before.)

Although I am more of a Geeks! person than a Facebook person, I made sure I became the 252nd member of the [...]

Today’s Pick - Chris Ayer An Award Winning Artist

3 December 2008 POD - Chris Ayer

Today’s pick is the winner in the folk category in the 2006 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. I chose "Evaporate" by Chris Ayer. I found him over at Podsafe Music Network.

As I have mentioned before, one of the most rewarding things about doing a podcast is the correspondence I [...]

RIAA Reaches New Low by Suing Patient with Pancreatitis

I have told you many times it will never stop. Like a nightmare that you can’t awake from the Gestapo RIAA continues its sham litigation reign of terror. This time it is after nineteen-year-old Ciara Sauro. She, as do almost all, says she did nothing wrong. The girl’s mother, according to P2P, [...]

Today’s Pick is Chillerstadt

26 November 2008 POD - Chillerstadt

Today I went with "Where You Are" by Chillerstadt. I found them over at Podsafe Music Network.

This band also has some interesting videos at their web site.

Thanks for reading and listening.

Music Sites - Part One - DRM Free and Podsafe

This is going to have to be part of a series kind of post. A good while back I scribbled a post March being Boycott the RIAA Month. In it, I mentioned a few places to seek DRM free and legal music. I still get asked where I find material very [...]

JC (Jonathan Coulton) on CC Thumb Drive

This is just kewl. Jonathan Coulton, likely most known for his tune “Code Monkey,” is doing very pro-CC thing. I have had the good fortune to shoot a few e-mails back and forth with Mr. Coulton. He is a very likable musician and is very much into the Creative Commons philosophy.
According to this [...]

World Diabetes Day Wants a Google Doodle

There is a web petition at this time to have a "Google Doodle" for today, World Diabetes Day. In my opinion, having one of those neat little holiday Google logos would be great PR and help raise awareness.

The Diabetes Power Show has did a promo which has more information. The sponsors for the [...]

Today’s Pick is Jefferson Airplane

14 November 2008 POD - Jefferson Airplane

Today’s pick is "Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane. I found them over at Podsafe Music Network.

Today is World Diabetes Day.

The Diabetes Powershow did most of today’s audio segment and was kind enough to email it to me and allow me to use [...]

Will the Music ever be Free?

Over a year ago now, I put up a post here that supported simply boycotting the RIAA. The post (actually about March being Boycott the RIAA Month) drew a number of comments suggesting other music distribution sources. I included the following short list in that post:

Podsafe Audio - This is my personal [...]

Hawaii switching to digital, in an "Early Bird" manner

This is kewl. Seems, according to Physics.org, that Hawaii is making the Digital TV switch just over a month early.

It seems that if they kept the schedule of the rest of the country, they would interfere with the Petrel’s mating season. I think that is worth a quick post here.

Google Chrome? The Google Browser is here… sorta

Before I wrote here, I put this post up about the possibility of Google releasing a browser. That is correct, way back in 2005.

I don’t know if I like the name "Chrome" as much as "Gbrowser".. Nonetheless, if Google make is work with all its various services in the right way, I feel [...]
