One billion tweets, but how many uses and services?
To be honest, I don’t Twitter on the road often. The reason being is that I live at work and rarely ever use my cell phone. Even when at my desktop, I tend to be a follower and not a tweeter. Nonetheless, I do tweet. Lately, I have noticed more than a few good Twitter related links. I thought I would take a few minutes to put together a list of some I like. Feel free to add to them by commenting.
- First of let me start with my favorite client for it. Twhirl is my current client of choice. Twhirl also works with laconi.ca, Friendfeed and seesmic
- One of the things I did with Twitter is to search for people in my area. At the time, it was very cumbersome to do so. Thanks to DogReader’s Post I have found an easier way to search for local tweets.
- This post notes that we have reached the billion tweet mark. Check out the comments and the related links for some great tips and resources
- Here is one recommended by Jordan that I hope to check out this weekend. If you beat me to it, let me know what you think.
- Qwitter is a service that uses twitter to help smokers attempt to quit. There are other similar specialty uses as well but this being the month of the Great American Smoke Out, I thought it best to mention this one.
- Over at Contentious, Amy Gahran who is a very tech-savvy journalist details how to use event-hashtags to cover an event.
- Now Tweetlater almost seems like cheating but I certainly see how it could be of use for us bloggers who time delay their postings. I am testing it out with four scheduled tweets today. If you wish you can follow my turkey adventures.
