Mac and Windows. Why is only a computer with Windows called a PC

Some thing I was thinking about was why a Mac was just a Mac and a machine with Windows is called a PC. Think about it, PC stands for personal computer. A Mac is a personal computer as well as a Windows computer is a personal computer. I was talking in chat at live.pirillo.com and someone told me it was the way Apple marketed there products. I don’t really know why that is but if you know why post it as a comment on my blog
