How To Post Videos on Lockergnome

  • No Related Post

Sometime late last night I stopped being so damn lazy and got around to fixing the eternal problem of being unable to use any kind of videos on Lockergnome.

Alright, I didn’t fix the problem, per say, but now you can embed YouTube-style videos on Lockergnome and not have your blog break. Here’s how:

In the rich-text editor (the default way you write entries on Lockergnome) you should now see two additional buttons: and

- Use this button if you have a flash file you wish to link to directly; for example, a file on another website that ends in .swf

- use this button to link to YouTube videos. You use the URL of the video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-ZDEhz8y… - instead of the provided embed code.

That’s pretty much it, any questions?

Thank you very much LordKat, I do appreciate it. :-)

Important addendum!

With the current Lockergnome format, a video (as well any image) shouldn’t exceed 350 pixels in width (or 300 if it’s displaying within the first paragraph where the Google AdSense block is), otherwise you risk overflowing. And what a mess that can be!

The default YouTube format should always be changed from

<object width="425" height="350"> to <object width="350"height="288">

Also, the default WordPress rich text editor is The Devil. It should be turned off and never looked at again! Er…not that I feel very strongly about it or anything!
