Here’s an Easy Pizza Dough Recipe that I’ve been using for a long time now. It’s so easy, in fact, that I make pizza twice a month (I could make it more, but I like to watch what I eat).
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 2 packages dry active yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water from the tap
- 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
- flour, for work surface
Easy Pizza Dough Recipe Directions:
- In an electric mixer (with a dough hook), place flour, yeast, salt and sugar.
- Gradually add water and knead on low until dough is firm and smooth, about 10 minutes. Turn machine off.
- Pour oil down inside of bowl and coat the dough.
- Cover bowl with plastic wrap.
- Let dough rise in warm spot until doubled in bulk, about 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 500ºF.
- Punch dough down, cut in quarters.
- Place one section of the dough on a floured work surface.
- Form dough loosely into a ball and stretch into a circle.
- Form the dough into a circle. You can use your hands (recommended) or use a floured rolling pin.
- If you get holes in the dough, just pinch the edges back together.
- Sprinkle the dough on both sides with flour or cornmeal (recommended).
- Sprinkle cookie sheet with cornmeal.
- Transfer dough to your cooking surface and add toppings (sauce, too).
- Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until Golden Brown and Delicious.
- Remaining dough can be frozen for up to a year in freezer bags.
