Nintendo Wii Christmas Party

We had our Christmas Party two nights again, and it was a friggin’ blast. The alcohol and food kept flowing, and everybody had one hell of a great time.

On the menu this year were some returning favorites and new classics (that stuffed winter squash went fast, and everyone tried to take home at least one or two extras), but the biggest culinary surprise was the deep-fried turkey, which is something we’re going to be making more often as the years progress.

The deep-fried turkey recipe is simple: soak the turkey in a brine overnight and deep-fry it an hour before serving. While I’m sure you could deep-fry the turkey alone, the brine made it extra-special by adding a ton of flavor and keeping the turkey moist and delicious.

Of course we did a lot more than just eat and drink: our entire family played with the Nintendo Wii. And we’re not a family of gamers, either: most of us are busy professionals who just don’t have the time (or desire) to learn a complicated system like the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, so the Wii was a prefect fit for my aunt and uncle to play boxing, tennis and bowling. In fact, the Wii was such a hit that both of Uncle Joe and Cousin Michelle declared that they would be buying a Wii in the coming weeks (this coming from two people who have not played a console since the Sega Genesis days).

In other words: the party was fantastic and I just can’t wait until next year.
