I have been a supporter for open source software for years. And to that note, I recently jumped on board with with a project known as WebcamStudio. Those who remember the original program would do well to give this software a second look - it has been upgraded BIG TIME.
New UI, new features and great functionality. Both the project maintainer and I both strongly believe in good documentation and ease of use. WebcamStudio is the single best broadcasting solution available when wanting to spice up your webcam/desktop broadcasts.
I use WebcamStudio all the time on both my Intel dual-core notebook and my older AMD Athon desktop. It runs well on both, but is hardly even noticeable with the resources on the dual-core system. The software is a great solution for desktop broadcasting with the latest Ubuntu release.
