It’s All About Open Source Cameras

Cannot say that I ever gave a ton of thought to seeing camera going open source. Sure, I am a fan of open source hardware as it certainly has some merits, but getting my head around an open source camera would not have likely happened until I read this today.
Imagine a world where end users can download software to their camera, designed to add functionality to the existing ability of the camera itself. The “Frankencamera” is what some believe, is the future of cameras.
Speaking for myself, while I think the idea is extremely cool, it’s not really going to take off. At the end of the day, people are more in tune with software being installed on their mobile devices, not their cameras. But this is merely my own perspective, others may disagree.
