Kinbuntu?

There should be an image here!While the need may be lacking here, there is still a certain level of cool that comes with trying to install Linux on various types of hardware. Hacking a Kindle to run Ubuntu is almost as cool a hacking a bunch of MSNTVs to run as a Linux cluster.

So while the practical applications initially remain a bit sketchy with Ubuntu on a Kindle, the above linked article does go on to share that you can also use this guy’s hack to read unprotected PDFs. Now that could be useful!

Honestly, I doubt this will be the last time we see a Kindle hacked with Ubuntu. Something in my gut tells me that this is merely the beginning and perhaps, it will be the first in some usable applications for the Kindle besides spoon feeding Amazon revenue.

Have you heard about Lubuntu? It’s alpha now, I think.
It uses LXDE and aims to join the ranks of the other Ubuntus.
