Moblin Still Hoblin Along

While I love the idea of netbooks from a portability and price point point of view, the fact of the matter is that these new-age netbook distros are becoming really troubling to follow.

Look, Moblin has the potential to be very cool. But it just feels like too many of the same mistakes made by other distros out there are being repeated. Stop oversimplifying the damned operating system! Yes, we want applications and windows themselves to be accessible. But let’s not do it while sacrificing the UI to the degree that it starts to feel like the adult version of the Sugar OS.

Outside of my gripes about the Moblin front end, I am happy to hear about the tremendous progress being made by the developers on the back end of things. Still, it does make one wonder. Will all of this work on Moblin even matter if the Google Chrome OS is even half as good as expected?
