Canonical Offering Desktop Support For Casual Users

There should be an image here!Well it’s about time! Seriously, it took all this time for Canonical to realize one of the most obvious things in the universe - most newbie converts need support for their new Ubuntu installations. What a revelation.

What remains a bit more unclear is how much assistance they think they will be able to provide the casual user, who just spent some decent coin on support, only to find that they will end up doing all the work themselves.

That’s right, it’s email/phone support only - how sad. So despite me being able to use stuff like ssh -x to do my own remote desktop support for folks I know, Canonical is taking a much lamer approach. Look, I like Ubuntu. It’s my desktop of choice. But Canonical needs to get with it if they plan on building up much a business.
