Taking Ubuntu To College

To many people, the idea of trying to use Ubuntu as their primary operating system must seem as foreign to them as me attempting to go back to Windows. Yet once the dust settles and the end user realizes that most of the hot air about Linux being so difficult is truly, a matter of perspective, I think worlds change overnight.

This is especially true when you are talking about students who are trying to use their student loan resources to squeeze out every penny possible. Because let’s face it, students today more than ever are watching each dollar spent. So when it comes time to spend money on software, open source options generally make the most sense.

All of this said, it should also be noted that we still very much live in a Windows world. So while the students might be quick to adopt something more cost effective, most American universities seems to be slow to catch up.
