Later Ubuntu - Time For PCLinuxOS

Normally when I read an article about someone writing about dumping Ubuntu/Kubuntu for another distro, I tend to write them off as yet another distro hopper looking to avoid any sort of troubleshooting. Yet in this instance, the author of the piece is a fairly well known Linux guru. So hearing that she is looking to move onto another distribution, instant got my attention.Apparently for some folks, (K)Ubuntu is just not providing the kind of stability that is needed by those using Linux everyday.
To a degree, I can understand this feeling. But I can also say I have never experienced any of the issues she is describing. Still, if you are, then perhaps taking a look at the distro the article’s author is exploring is worth a look. PCLinuxOS.
At its core, I see PCLinuxOS as yet another distro. It’s as good as I have seen with KDE based, but would not say that it is going to get me off of Ubuntu anytime soon. Still, PCLinuxOS is fast to boot, runs light and has reasonably decent repositories. So if Ubuntu is making you gag, there is another solid alternative.
