Must Have Linux Software

There should be an image here!I’ll have to admit, this is a mighty fine list of great Linux apps. And just as impressive is that this list contains both GTK and KDE applications, as not to leave anything out along the way.

The linked list above appears to be providing both closed and open source applications, most of which are really great software choices. Perhaps most importantly, this serves as a reminder that desktop Linux has production grade software available for those who wish to install it.

This is not to say that some beta software is not worth a look, but it is refreshing to have an application list full of software that does not make me cringe while trying to use it. The only area I am a bit sketchy with is the above piece referring to Ubuntu as a mature distribution. Ubuntu, while good, is by definition unstable as it is built from Debian unstable with some tweaks and changes along the way. But other than that, suggested Linux distros is generally spot on otherwise.
