KOffice Not Playing Well With MS Office

KOffice for the most part, has always been pretty solid software. Quicker than say, Open Office, it is designed to provide the casual KDE users just about everything they might want from a good office suite.

Sadly though, it appears that it does not provide a MS Office filter. So you might experience some issues trying to open up MS documents. Despite the fact that we still live in a MS Office world, KOffice’s big accomplishment is living in a world where anyone even has a clue what the heck the ODF standard means. Newsflash, not that many people care.

While I think the software suite itself is solid and totally worth looking at, if you work in an office where MS Office is in use, you might find that this is not the best option for you. For the rest of you simply looking to work on your stuff without sharing it with Windows friends, this is something to consider as it is faster than Open Office based on my experience.
