Microsoft And The Linux Foundation Team Up To Fight The Power Of Stupid

Clearly there is something magic in the air when we witness both MS and The Linux Foundation teaming up on ANYTHING. Yet as luck would have it, here we are. The two groups in question have had legal counsel from both send out the letter to those seeking to potentially put forth software liabilities that could potentially affect companies or communities that create software for the end user to enjoy.
This means if you are using MS Word or Open Office, your system crashes and your work is now gone, you would potentially be able to sue the relevant party that was involved. And there is the problem. Suing someone because your system crapped out is just stupid. It is like suing MS because you have a virus or the Linux Foundation because you blindly executed a dangerous bash script as root. In both cases, it is not the problem of anyone but the end user.
It’s sad when we live in a world where something as obvious as liability must be more clearly defined with regard to software. I mean seriously, should this not be obvious? It’s the end user’s responsibility, regardless of platform.
