Tracker Making Temporary Tracks

Picking up where Beagle in KDE left off, it has been my experience that Tracker, which is currently available with GNOME, is a mixed bag. Yes, it does in fact make sorting and sifting through a tremendous amount of files a whole heck of a lot easier. But in the 9.04 release of Ubuntu, it seems that there is something wrong.
In the past when using Tracker, I have found that I was able to control the way data was being indexed, in addition to having it working properly at all. In Ubuntu 9.04, this does not appear to be the case. Perhaps it was just the upgrade I did with Ubuntu to create this issue.
The real twist to all of this is that there have been reports with at least some 9.04 users in seeing corrupt indexes being built. Worse, trying to rebuild them apparently fails miserably. So it seems to me that the solution that has worked best for me is to simply remove tracker and see if the bugs work themselves out in the next release. For me, it is just not something I use that often.
