Android To Outpace The iPhone?

While I believe that Google’s Android platform is growing by leaps and bounds, to believe that it is going to out pace the iPhone seems highly unlikely. As a platform, I guess it is potentially safe to say that Android will be more available than the iPhone with ease. As to whether the phones that carry Android, can outsell the iPhone…remains to be seen I think.
I have even heard that Android might be showing up on Moto phones, in addition to Sony Ericsson amongst others. As for carriers, T-Mobile of course is still in there, as will other carriers for other regions of the world.
At this point I am still waiting to see other mobile carriers here in the states get on board with Android. Where is Verizon and Sprint? Well Verizon is still rumored to be in talks for the iPhone, which sort of rules out the likelihood of anything coming of it while Sprint is no where to be seen in anything cool these days.

Sprint has the Palm Pre, like you didn’t know! I am hoping that will be a good platform as I am still on the fence between the Palm Pre and an Android phone for either Spint or Verizon. I need CDMA coverage as it it more widely available in the places I travel. GSM doesn’t come close to the coverage and that is critical, if GSM had more rural coverage I would buy an iPhone in a hearbeat…but goes to show that GSM doesn’t care abour rural areas, just look at the coverage.

Just because a carrier has one platform, doesn’t mean they can’t carry another. T-Mobile in Germany carries the iPhone and the Android G1. And you thought AT&T had a monopoly…
