Asustek Launches A Shot Over The Smart Phone Industry Bow

Asustek without exception, has been powering my PC towers for YEARS now. Anytime I built a PC, both when I was a Windows user and today, as a full time Ubuntu “extremist”, I reach for an Asustek board every time. It has long since been my experience that Asustek just makes great stuff.
Well today I learned that Asustek is going to be releasing Linux on their upcoming smart phones. I suspect this will be to counter anything coming down the way put out there by Microsoft. What I am doubtful about is whether or not we will be seeing anything all that compelling from Asustek in the mobile phone world due to the fact that outside of Android, there is just not a lot of buzz around Linux smart phones here in the US. Hopefully, this will begin to change, but something tells me that brands will win the game on this one.
But coming back to Android, have you had a chance to try out this Linux based mobile OS yet? Unless you have a phone from select providers, T-Mobile here in the states, chances are that is a big no. Well in the video above, Chris gives a demonstration of the Android emulator. This way, you get Android without having to own a phone running it!

Hi, nice video, I am using a HTC Innovation with touch screen and MS Mobile 6.0. Mostly no problems, just a few lock ups in the past 7 mths of use. I’m on the Telus network here in Canada eh!
