Java - Coming To A Google App Near You!

For all of you who were so sure that Java must be dead…guess what…you were quite wrong. Most people with poor Java experiences are putting their opinions on things that took place with poorly thought out applications or worse, those who tried to make Java work within the Web browser before its time.
Well today, Java has found a home in Google through Google Apps. Yes, you heard right kids - Java is the language behind the new Google App Engine. Doe this mean it will run as slow as snot, as in the past Java has not been a great choice for anything in the browser world? I think at this point, it remains to be seen. One thing is for sure though, Java has a real chance to shine here assuming Google gets this right.
Why is Java such good news for everyone? Simple, because it will mean cross platform options without having to worry whether or not something is going to be compatible with Linux or not. For my time spent on discovering new apps, this is a great thing. Let’s hope development continues to go well here.

Java is still the Queen of languages, and the Linux Java matchup is unbeatable. For all those that counted Sun and Java out…think again. Java can be exploited for a cloud destiny. I’m glad Google is taking charge.

Java on the client is slow. But my understanding is Java on the server is the high performance choice.
