Maybe it could be easier to secure reliable VPN access for Linux users, but I tend to doubt it. Thanks to Witopia, all I would need to do is purchase a copy of personalVPN and then email the support dept for instruction on getting things setup. Again, it could be made easier for potencial users to better understand what is to be involved, but at least the support is there!

Why bother using a VPN? Simple, if you are at a wifi hotspot right now, the simple fact of the matter is that a firewall is not enough. Your data being sent back and forth is at risk and having access to a strong VPN in this kind of setting is no longer a luxury if you value any kind of privacy.
