I am still skeptical as to whether or not Ubuntu is in fact, ready for primetime. Either way, it’s going to be heading that way.
How many Open Source apps does it take to screw in a light bulb? Here’s the latest word from the Linux galaxy, Open Source projects, command line assistance, desktop environment downloads, distribution revisions, cross-platform tools, and general help for those exploring this fantastic OS!

Right on! I am thrilled to hear that Debian will be supporting AMD64 chips. In some ways, it’s way over due.
It makes sense for the locals to support a local product. And being the Chinese Government works very hard to make sure that you have to fill out a permit every time you blow your nose, using their own distro also seems to fit.
“Everything is better with Science!” Alright, perhaps that was a little obvious. Nevertheless, by using open source ideas in the scientific community, we only work to enhance the discoveries found during any given research.
I know that these comparisons are generally to be taken with a total grain of salt. Regardless, it does provide for a good read.

Feeling a little adventurous? Think you have a great skill set? Then how about trying your hand at rolling your own WiFi access point built on Linux?
One thing I have to hand it to in regard to Novell is their clear understanding of who their market is. They see SuSE 10 as being the perfect shoe in for business desktop. Based on what I have seen thus far, they may be onto something here.

I agree that the eWeek review of Ubuntu was very good, however I fail to see what they were smoking when they named it desktop champ. The review was clear with a number of issue that have been resolved elsewhere. First it’s based on Gnome, so forget that. Then we we have to also consider [...]
OK, this may be a little out of the ordinary. Acutally, the idea of a Linux controled USB missile launcher is weird by anyone’s standards I suspect. Having said this, it’s still pretty cool.
