IBM Delivers Lotus Notes for Linux

Lotus Notes for Linux? Does anyone outside of Notes uses really care? Eh, that depends. however it does illustrate an interesting trend in new software for the Linux OS however.

With the goal of catering to the growing number of businesses adopting open source, IBM is planning to provide a
Linux version of its flagship Lotus Notes collaboration platform.

Lotus Notes on Linux will be available for free to existing Notes users by the end of the month.

“There is a lot of momentum in the Linux desktop market, with the maturity of the operating system,” said Arthur Fontaine, a senior offering manager at IBM Lotus. “But adoption has been held back by a lack of enterprise-grade applications for the OS that businesses want.” ….
