Download of the Day: PearBudget spreadsheet

OK, I’ll admit it. I am a total sucker for a good spreadsheet template. And with decent ones becoming more difficult to find outside of the MS Office world, I was thrilled to discover the one being described below.

Mac/Windows/Linux: The PearBudget spreadsheet is a handy budgeting template that tracks your income and expenses over time.

Any spreadsheet program - from Excel to OpenOffice’s Calc - can open PearBudget, which has one sheet per month with areas allocated to regular and irregular expenses, variable expenses, and income. Collect your expenditure receipts and enter ‘em into PearBudget once a week to track where your money goes. I haven’t had a chance to get this set up for myself, but the PearBudget folks say initial setup time is about 20 minutes, then 10 minutes a week after that, which seems pretty reasonable.
