Is Open Source Being Watered Down?

Could OSS end up being destroyed by people that mean well? It is highly unlikely, but it should not be said that it will never be watered down by newbie-ism. This is proving true in the business world, especially.
So we’ve been having a lot of debate internally about what it means to be Open Source. Some ASF members feel that the OSI definition is sufficient. Some ASF members feel there is much more to Open Source than the licensing terms governing the availability of the software.
ASF Member Gianugo Rabellino feels quite strongly that the concept of Open Source has been watered down and that perhaps we should do something about it. He’s given me permission to quote his internal post on this subject: Source: Feather
