First off, I think that the folks at Cedega do a bang up job. Thanks to their efforts with WINE, we have the option of playing many Windows games within Linux. But the cold, hard fact remains that running on the native OS for the game in question will always be more stable and faster.
Unveiled last week by TransGaming Technologies was Cedega v5.1. Appended to the growing Cedega gaming database was Sid Meier’s Civilization 4, FIFA 2006, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted. In addition, there are many other enhancements in Cedega Version 5.1 that range from game enhancements and a new user interface to copy protection improvements. For the uninformed, Cedega allows hundreds of Microsoft Windows engineered games to run on Linux seamlessly with very little end-user modifications required.
