Wind River sees a Linux future for devices

Could OSS be the key to allowing manufactures to bring their wares to the mobile market for a reasonable price point? Thus far, it does appear to look that way…

Last week, I wrote about the Nokia 770, the mobile phone maker’s Linux (Overview, Articles, Company)-based Internet tablet appliance. Although the device has its rough edges, open source allowed Nokia (Profile, Products, Articles) to bring it to market quickly at an attractive price point.
