Gaming on Linux - Darwinia

Speaking as a fan of Linux games, they are not likely to appeal to fans of Battlefield 2 and Counter Strike. Sure, there may be pretty decent looking, but Linux is just not that hot in the gaming scene right now.

Darwinia comes from the same studio that released the 2001 indie hit “Uplink”. With this latest game they’ve continued in the vein of producing addictive offbeat titles.
Enter Darwinia

After an interesting array of start-up screens featuring Commodore 64-esque demos and a playable “Game of Life” you’re launched seamlessly into the central area of Darwinia.

Darwinia’s story goes something like this. You happen across an AI experiment that has apparently gone awry. It seems you’re just in the nick of time, as the systems administrator is about to pull the plug and reset it loosing all his work in the process. With your help, though, he might just be able to get the experiment back on track and put an end to the virus that has been threatening his virtual creation. [Read the rest]
